North Yorkshire Council Parking Service Rostering
Context
North Yorkshire Council’s Parking Services is undergoing changes to staffing allocations as part of an overall re-structure of the service.
The staffing rosters have been unchanged for over 14 years. The Council needed to create a new set of staff timetables that accommodated some planned resource changes and achieved a number of constraints and conditions. These included providing a shared distribution of weekend work for all staff, a regular work pattern and sufficient coverage of the early, midday and late duties.
The rosters were required for three different roles operating from seven separate locations.
Constraints
The roster required a strong understanding of the client’s constraints. Parking Perspectives developed this insight through extensive early collaboration with the client.
This process identified a number of retained shift requirements as well as some opportunities.
User Interface
Rosters were determined and made available to officers and staff via an interface. This interface can generate a staff member’s timetable for a year or the staff roster showing start and end times for all staff members attending on any selected day.
